EI30MH55GS

Electrolux EI30MH55GS Over-the-Range Microwave Repair

Most common issues on this model

  1. Magnetron when the oven runs but food stays cold
  2. High-voltage diode and capacitor
  3. Vent damper and fan above the cooktop
  4. Door switches and the latch

Electrolux sold the EI30MH55GS as an over-the-range microwave, 30 inches wide. The number is also sold in other finishes as the EI30MH55GB, EI30MH55GW and EI30MH55GZ, so the closing letters name the color and say little about how the oven works. It is a discontinued model that many homes still use every day.

Over-the-range microwaves do two jobs, heating food and pulling cooking fumes away from the stove. If heating stops, our order of work is door switches, then the high-voltage diode, then the magnetron, because a bad diode is cheaper to replace and often mistaken for a dead magnetron. When the oven heats but the kitchen stays smoky, we move to the vent damper and fan motor.

Finish letters change which door or trim piece fits, so the whole model and serial plate is read before a part is ordered. A written quote comes before the work, and a repair that we complete is guaranteed for 30 days.

EI30MH55GSEI30MH55GS questions
My EI30MH55GS runs and the light is on, but nothing gets hot. Why?

On a microwave of this type the usual causes are the high-voltage diode, the capacitor or the magnetron. With the power off and the capacitor discharged, we test the cheaper parts first and give you a price before any part is replaced.

Does the last letter of the number change the repair?

The inside parts are generally shared, but doors, handles and trim differ by finish. So the label gets read before we order, which keeps a white door from being ordered for a stainless oven.

The exhaust fan in my microwave is weak. Can you fix it?

Yes. We check the damper for grease, the fan motor and the blower wheel. A greasy damper that sticks shut is common and quick to clean, while a worn motor is replaced as a part.
