This is the EW36GC55PS, a 36-inch gas cooktop with sealed burners and spark ignition, sold in stainless steel and also in black. Electrolux no longer sells it, so the units we work on are older ones that have seen years of daily cooking.
Spark ignition makes the igniter the first thing we look at. A cracked porcelain tip or a film of boiled-over food can stop a burner from lighting, and the center burner gets the most abuse in many kitchens. We clean the burner head and cap, check the spark, and then judge the flame itself. A weak or uneven flame points us to the ports and the gas supply to that burner.

What should I do if I smell gas near my cooktop?
Turn off the burners and the gas valve, open the windows, keep flames and switches away, and call your gas company. Once the line is cleared, we can inspect the EW36GC55PS burners and connections.
Why will my center burner not light?
The center burner on this cooktop relies on its own igniter. A cracked tip, grease on the electrode or a misplaced burner cap are common reasons, so we clean and test first and replace parts only if needed.
Do the PS and PB endings use the same parts?
Many parts are shared, but trim and finish pieces are not. PS is stainless and PB is black, and revisions differ too, so we check the label before quoting.
