What Power Fail means
Power Fail on an Electrolux ICON built-in all-freezer column with the Custom Set control, such as the E32AF85PQS, E32AF75JPS, EI32AF80QS or EI32AF65JS, is a record of a power outage. It shows that the cabinet went above 23 F while the power was off. If the outage lasted more than an hour, the display also shows how long it lasted. The freezer is cooling again, but food may have warmed in the meantime. Pressing Alarm Off clears the message.
Common causes of Power Fail
- Utility outage or tripped breaker
- Loose plug or outlet
- Power supply to the control if it repeats
1. Press Alarm Off to clear the message. 2. Read the time shown, if any, to see how long the power was out. 3. Check the food for thawing, and use your judgment on anything that warmed. 4. If Power Fail returns without an outage, check the plug and the breaker, then call us.
- The message tells us the outage was real, but not whether it came from outside the house or from a loose connection to the freezer.
- We check the plug, the cord and the outlet if the message keeps appearing.
- We quote work in writing first, so you know the cost before we start.
Other Freezer codes
Does Power Fail mean my freezer is broken?
No. It is a record that the cabinet warmed during an outage. If the freezer is now cooling normally, nothing needs repair, though you should check your food.
What does the duration mean?
If the outage lasted longer than an hour, the display shows how long it was. That helps you judge how warm the food may have become.
Why does it show Power Fail when the lights stayed on?
That can point to a loose plug, a tripped outlet or a power problem to the freezer only, and it is worth a call to us.
