What F XX means
On the Electrolux ICON 30-inch and 36-inch electric touch-control drop-in cooktops, such as the E30EC70FSS and E36EC70FSS, an error code is shown by the letter F in the cooking element LEDs together with digits in the main control LED. The letter and the digits are read as one code. The owner's guide does not list the individual numbers, so the digits are what we use at the visit to decide where to test first.
Common causes of F XX
- Control board reading for the recorded number
- Touch panel connection
- Element or sensor circuit tied to the digits
- Supply voltage to the cooktop
1. Turn off every element and let the glass cool. 2. Switch the cooktop's supply off, wait a moment, then switch it back on. 3. If F and digits appear again, write the digits down in order. 4. Call us with those digits and which element LEDs showed the F.
- A power cycle clears a one-time event, but only the digits tell us what circuit to look at, so please keep them.
- We confirm with testing before ordering a part, because a number can have more than one possible cause.
- The price is quoted in writing before work begins.
Other Cooktop codes
Why is there no list of numbers I can look up?
The owner's guide for this cooktop does not publish each number. That is why we ask you to write them down, so we can test the right circuit.
Does F here mean pan not detected?
No. On this electric cooktop the F is part of an error code. Pan detection is a different message on the induction cooktops. Pan detection on induction models shows a plain F with no digits, while this code needs the digits after the F to mean anything.
Should I stop using the cooktop?
If it heats normally after a restart, use care and watch for the code. If it returns, stop and call us. Heating normally after a restart is a good sign, but we would still like to know the digits if the code ever returns.
