What E10 means
An E10 in the error log of an Electrolux ICON or IQ under-counter ice maker, models such as the EI15IM55GS, E15IM60GSS and E15IM60GPS, records that door number 2, the drawer, stayed open for more than 20 minutes. It is logged in service mode, and the owner usually sees the unit complaining with ER or a door alarm instead. It is a sign of a drawer left open, a drawer that does not close properly, or a switch that reads open when it is not.
Common causes of E10
- Drawer left open or blocked by ice or a scoop
- Drawer door switch or its wiring
- Drawer seal or latch that does not close
1. Push the drawer fully closed and check that nothing, such as ice or a scoop, stops it. 2. Look at the seal around the drawer for anything stuck in it. 3. Close it and watch whether the unit starts making ice again. 4. If E10 or ER returns, call us.
- A switch that reads open looks exactly like a drawer that is open, so we test the switch and wiring.
- We check that the drawer closes squarely and seals.
- You approve a written price before work, and on an older unit we say plainly if repair is not worth it.
Other Ice Maker codes
Does E10 mean the drawer is broken?
Not necessarily. It records that the drawer was open for more than 20 minutes. Often someone simply left it open, but a worn switch can send the same signal when the drawer is shut.
How is E10 different from E3?
E3 records that the door was open too long, and E10 records the same thing for door number 2, the drawer. The causes are alike, so we check the switch that belongs to each.
Will melted ice cause damage?
A drawer left open lets ice melt and water collect in the bin. Close it, drain and wipe the water, and let us know if the code keeps returning.
Still unsure about E10?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
