What H4 / B4 means
On newer Electrolux dryers with the two-character display, H4 and B4 mean incorrect wiring. The brand calls it a known installation issue and tells the owner to contact the installer, so the dryer is telling you its power connections are not set up the way it expects. This often shows after a new install, a move, or a cord change. The dryer will not run its cycle until the wiring is corrected.
Common causes of H4 / B4
- Power cord and terminal block connections
- Outlet type and wiring behind it
- Control board reading the supply
1. Stop the dryer and disconnect its plug. 2. Think about whether the dryer is new, was moved or had its cord changed. 3. Contact the installer who set it up, as the guidance recommends. 4. Do not open the back panel or change any wiring yourself.
- The code points to the wiring but does not say where, so we check the outlet and cord before the dryer itself.
- When the installer cannot be reached, we can check the connections and tell you what is wrong.
- You see a written price first, and the repair carries a 30-day warranty.

Why does a new dryer show H4 or B4?
The most common reason is the cord or terminal connections do not match the outlet. That is an installation matter, which is why the guidance sends you to your installer.
Can I use the dryer anyway?
No. Wrong connections can damage the dryer and are a safety concern, so keep it unplugged until the wiring has been checked by us or by a licensed electrician.
Can you fix it if my installer will not come back?
Yes, we can look at the cord and the connections, then explain what needs to change before you approve anything. If the house wiring itself needs an electrician, we say so plainly.
Still seeing H4 / B4?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
