What H2 / B2 means
H2 and B2 are the two-character power supply messages on newer Electrolux dryers, the generation with the compact display. The brand's guidance for them is to contact the electric company, which tells you the dryer is reading a problem with the power coming into it rather than a worn part inside. You will see the code, and the dryer may refuse to start or stop partway through a load. Which of the two characters appears depends on the display style, and the meaning is the same.
Common causes of H2 / B2
- Voltage arriving at the outlet
- Outlet or cord connection
- Control board power input
1. Press Stop, then pull the dryer plug. 2. Check that both halves of the dryer breaker are fully on. 3. Notice whether the lights flicker or other large appliances act up, and note when. 4. Plug the dryer back in and try a short cycle. If the code returns, contact your electric company as the guidance says, then call us if it continues.
- The code says the power looks wrong, but it cannot say whether the problem is the utility, the house wiring or the dryer's own board, so we check the dryer end.
- We look at the cord, plug and connections that carry the load.
- We give you a written price before work, and we tell you when a repair is not needed.
Other Dryer codes
Why does the code tell me to call the electric company?
Because the dryer is reporting a power problem. Low or uneven voltage from outside the house can cause it, and only the utility can check that side.
What if the electric company finds nothing?
Then we look at the dryer, its cord, the outlet connection and the control board. The code alone does not tell us which one is the cause.
Are H2 and B2 different?
They carry the same meaning on dryers with this display. Which one you see depends on the display style, so either one sends you to the same checks of the power supply and the dryer.
Still seeing H2 / B2?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
