What EA4 means

An EA4 on an Electrolux Wave-Touch or IQ-Touch front-load dryer, such as the EIED55HIW, EIGD55HIW, EWED65HSS or EWMED65HIW, is the control's improper home wiring message. It reports that the line connections coming into the dryer do not look right, for example the L1, neutral and L2 wires landing on the wrong terminals. It can also mean the board that reads them is misreading. The dryer stops and shows EA4 instead of starting. It is an older model that many homes still use, and we repair it.

Why does a dryer that always worked show EA4 now?

A cord that was swapped, a loosened connection or a changed outlet can all trigger it. A worn board that misreads the lines can too. We check the connections first because they are easier to confirm.

Can I run it anyway?

No. The dryer will not start with EA4 showing, and forcing a dryer with wrong line connections can damage it. Keep it unplugged until we have looked at it.
