The EFMC417S is a front load electric dryer from the Perfect Steam line, with an 8.0 cubic foot drum and 7 cycles. It is also sold as the EFMC417SIW. Electrolux has discontinued it, so it is an older dryer, and a lot of owners still run theirs.
A steam dryer needs a water connection on top of power and venting. When the steam feature does not seem to work, we check the water supply to the dryer, the hose and the inlet. Dampness near the dryer sends us to that connection as well. For plain heating or damp-clothes problems, we do what we do on any electric dryer: vent, lint, element and safety parts.

What does a Perfect Steam dryer need to work?
On the EFMC417S the steam feature needs a water connection as well as power and venting. If steam is missing, we check the supply and inlet first.
Why is there water near my dryer?
A loose hose, a worn washer or an inlet problem at the steam connection can drip. We trace the water line from the valve to the dryer.
Does the steam feature affect normal drying?
Not usually. Regular drying depends on heat and airflow. If clothes stay damp, we check the vent and heat circuit as on any electric dryer.
