What E41 means
On an Electrolux Wave-Touch or IQ-Touch front-load washer such as the EWFLW65HIW, EIFLW55HIW, EFLS627UTT or ELFW7637AT, E41 means the control believes the door switch is open. The door may not be shut all the way, or the switch may not be reporting it. The washer will not begin a cycle, or it stops partway through. Many of these older washers are still in service around Houston, and we will tell you if a repair is not worth the cost.
Common causes of E41
- A door that is not closing completely because of clothes or debris
- The latch and striker not meeting
- The door switch and its wiring
- The main control board
1. Open the door and look for clothing or lint at the latch. 2. Shut it and listen for the click. 3. Check that the latch and the striker line up. 4. If E41 keeps showing, call us.
- We test the switch circuit and the latch before suggesting a board.
- We check how the door lines up.
Other Washer codes
What causes E41 most often?
A door that is not fully closed, often because clothes are caught at the latch. Check the door edge and the latch before assuming a part has failed.
I hear the click but E41 stays. Why?
The door switch or its wiring may not be passing the signal even though the latch clicks. We can test the switch circuit to see where the signal stops.
Can I run the washer with the door open?
No. The door must be shut and latched for the washer to run safely, and the washer will not start with the door switch reading open.
