What HO SE means
HO SE is a message on Electrolux front-load washers, including the EWFLW65HIW, EIFLW55HIW, EFLS627UTT and ELFW7637AT, telling you the inlet hoses are installed backwards. Hot supply is on the cold inlet and cold supply is on the hot inlet. The display shows HO, then SE, then 0 minutes remaining for about a minute, and then repeats. It is not a failure of the washer.
Common causes of HO SE
- The hot hose connected to the cold inlet
- The cold hose connected to the hot inlet
- A hose swapped during a move or a new install
1. Press Cancel to stop the cycle, then turn off the water at both supply valves. 2. Unscrew each hose from the washer. 3. Connect the hot hose to the hot inlet and the cold hose to the cold inlet. 4. Turn the water back on, check for leaks and restart.
- If HO SE stays after the hoses are corrected, we test the temperature sensing and the inlet valves.
- We also check the hose washers for leaks.
- A repair price is always given in writing first, and our workmanship is warranted for 30 days.

Is HO SE a repair problem?
Usually not. It is a warning that the hoses are on the wrong inlets, and swapping them back normally clears it. We only get involved if the message persists after the hoses are corrected.
How can I tell which hose is hot?
Check the markings or color coding on the hoses, or turn on a faucet at the house and feel which supply valve gets warm. The warm side belongs on the hot inlet.
Why does it say 0 minutes?
The washer does not start a real cycle while the hoses are reversed, so the time remaining shows zero until the connections are corrected. It repeats about once a minute until then.
Still unsure about HO SE?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
