What EA1 means
The washer reads the frequency of the power coming in, and EA1 means that reading fell outside the limits it accepts. It is reported by the Wave-Touch and IQ-Touch front-loaders from Electrolux, among them the EWFLW65HIW and EIFLW55HIW. The cause may be the supply itself or the main control board that reads it. The display shows EA1 and the washer stops. Plenty of these older units are still around Houston, and we tell you honestly when a repair would not be a smart purchase.
Common causes of EA1
- The incoming power at the outlet
- Wiring between the outlet and the washer
- The main control board that senses the frequency
1. Switch the washer off. 2. Plug it directly into a wall outlet, with no extension cord or power strip. 3. Notice whether lights or other devices on that circuit behave oddly. 4. Run one short cycle. If EA1 shows again, call us.
- EA1 could come from the supply or from the board reading it, so the incoming power is measured first.
- If the supply is normal, the main board is next.
- Our quote is written and approved before we start, and the repair is warranted for 30 days.
Other Washer codes
Is EA1 a utility issue?
It can be, but more often the supply turns out normal at the outlet. We measure it before blaming either the washer or the power company, so the answer is clear.
Would a generator trigger EA1?
Power from a portable generator or inverter may not hold a steady frequency. If you were using one, run the washer on normal house power and see if the code goes away.
Can I keep using the washer?
We would wait for a test. One restart on a direct outlet is fine, but a code that keeps returning means the power or the main board needs a proper check.
