What TOO MUCH DETERGENT means
TOO MUCH DETERGENT is a text message on the LCD display of Electrolux Wave-Touch front-load washers such as the EWFLW65HIW and EWFLW65HSS. It appears when too much soap was added and the automatic extra rinses, up to four, did not clear the suds. It is the Wave-Touch text version of the SU dS message. The cycle may stop, and clothes may come out soapy. This is an older model still in many Houston homes.
Common causes of TOO MUCH DETERGENT
- More detergent than the load needs
- Detergent not made for front-load washers
- Soap residue in the drum or drawer
1. Let the washer finish draining, then run a rinse and spin. 2. Use less detergent next time, and use HE detergent. 3. Run an empty Quick Wash to clean out soap buildup. 4. If the message returns with a small amount of soap, call us.
- The message is about the soap amount, so we ask what you use before we test any part.
- If it returns with little soap, we check the water level and suds sensing.
- A repair, if needed, begins only after you accept a written price, and carries a 30-day warranty.
Other Washer codes
Is this the same as SU dS?
It is the same condition. On the Wave-Touch LCD the washer writes it out as text once the automatic extra rinses have failed to clear the suds, so the fix is the same one.
How do I prevent it?
Use less HE detergent than the label's top amount and keep the drawer clean. Most front-load washers need only a small amount of soap for a normal load.
Will it harm the washer?
It can leave soap in the drum and the clothes. If the message repeats with very little soap, call us and we will check the level and suds sensing.
