EFMG417SIW
Electrolux EFMG417SIW Gas Dryer Repair
Most common issues on this model
- Igniter and gas valve coils when there is no heat
- High-limit safety part that trips on poor airflow
- Water supply for the steam function
- Vent run and lint buildup
The EFMG417SIW is a gas steam dryer from Electrolux, finished in white, with an 8.0 cu. ft. drum and seven dry cycles. It is a discontinued model, but still an everyday dryer in many Houston garages and laundry rooms where a gas line is available.
On a gas dryer the first question is whether it lights. We watch the igniter glow, listen for the valve to open and check whether the burner catches. A weak igniter or worn valve coil is a common reason for no heat. We also look at the safety limiter that trips when the vent is restricted, and at the water hose for the steam function.
Should the room ever smell of gas, leave the dryer off, ventilate and phone your gas company first. Once the line is cleared, we confirm your exact build from the rating plate, quote the job up front and guarantee our labor for 30 days.

Why does my EFMG417SIW tumble but never get hot?
On a gas dryer that usually means the burner is not lighting. We test the igniter, the valve coils and the safety limiter, and we check the vent because poor airflow can trip the limiter.
Gas odor in the laundry area: what now?
Stop using the dryer, shut its valve, let fresh air in and get your gas company out. Once they say the line is safe, we inspect the dryer and its connection.
Does the steam function need its own hookup?
Yes, steam draws from a water supply hose. If steam cycles do nothing, we check that hose, the shutoff and the inlet screen before looking deeper.
