EIMGD55I
Electrolux EIMGD55I Steam Dryer Repair
Most common issues on this model
- Gas ignition and valve coils
- Steam water supply
- Vent blockage
- Gas connector and shutoff
The EIMGD55I is the series number for a 27-inch gas front-load dryer with an 8.0 cu. ft. drum, IQ-Touch controls and Perfect Steam. It is sold in finishes such as EIMGD55IIW, EIMGD55IMB and EIMGD55IRR, and Electrolux has discontinued it. We still repair it in older Houston homes with a gas line in the laundry area.
Gas plus steam gives this dryer two supply lines. For gas, we watch the igniter, test the valve coils and check the connector and shutoff. For steam, we follow the water hose and valve. A blocked vent can stop both heat and drying, so it gets measured every time.
Gas smell means shutting the valve and calling your gas company first. Then the rating plate guides our parts order. You approve the cost before work, and our labor is guaranteed for 30 days. If replacement is smarter, we say so.

Does this dryer need both a gas and a water connection?
Yes. Gas fuels the burner and water feeds the steam feature. A problem with either one can look like a dryer problem, so we check both lines.
Why does the dryer spin and never get warm?
On a gas dryer that usually points to the igniter, the valve coils or a limiter tripping on a clogged vent. We test each and measure airflow.
Do the IW, MB and RR finishes matter?
They are finishes of the same dryer. They affect trim only, but we confirm the one on your label before ordering parts. If you are unsure of your finish, the label inside the door opening shows it.
