What E53 means

E53 on Electrolux Wave-Touch and IQ-Touch front-load washers in the EWFLW65H and EIFLW55H series, such as the EWFLW65HSS and EIFLW55HIW, means low voltage is reaching the motor control board. The motor control board runs the drum motor, and it is not getting the supply it expects from the main control. The washer will stop or will not spin. This is listed for the 2008 to 2010 washers.

1. Unplug the washer briefly and plug it back in. 2. Check that the plug is firm in the outlet and the breaker is on. 3. Leave all panels on the washer. 4. If E53 shows again, stop using the washer and call us.

Is E53 an electrical emergency?

Not usually, but leave the washer unplugged if you smell anything burning or see scorching at the plug or outlet. Otherwise it is safe to wait for a visit.

Could my wall outlet be the cause of E53?

It can be. We check the outlet supply as part of the repair, together with the wiring between the main control and the motor control board.

Does E53 mean I need a new motor control board?

Maybe. The wiring between the two boards is checked first, and we do not replace a board until the wiring and supply have been ruled out.
