EFLS517SIW
Electrolux EFLS517SIW Steam Washer Repair
Most common issues on this model
- Door boot seal and drain filter
- Drain pump
- Steam supply and fill valves
- Drum noise and balance on spin
The EFLS517SIW is the white version of the EFLS517 front-load Perfect Steam washer, with 4.3 cubic feet of capacity and LuxCare Wash. It is out of production and counts as an older machine, but there are still a lot of them running in Houston laundry rooms.
With a large drum and steam, a front-loader like this one asks a lot of its door seal, drain and bearings. We begin by running a short cycle and watching how it fills, drains and spins. Then we check the boot seal and drain filter for trapped water or lint, the drain pump, and the steam and fill valves if the cycle stalls.
SIW is the white finish, and other finishes carry other letters, so parts are matched from the nameplate on your washer. We give a written estimate before any work, and a straight answer if the age of the washer argues against repair.

What does SIW mean on this washer?
SIW is the white finish of the EFLS517. Other finishes use other letters, so we write down the nameplate numbers to make sure a part fits this build.
Is a 4.3 cubic foot steam washer worth repairing?
Often, if the drum and bearings are sound. We check the problem first, quote the part and labor in writing, and say plainly when an older machine is better replaced.
Why is water left in the drum after a cycle?
Usually a clogged drain filter or a weak drain pump on a front-load washer. We clear and test those first, then check the hose and control before suggesting a part.
