What E91 / E92 means
E91 and E92 report a communication error between the user interface board and the main control board on front-load washers from Electrolux, Wave-Touch and IQ-Touch models like the EWFLW65HIW and EIFLW55HIW. The control panel and the main board are not exchanging information reliably. The display shows E91 or E92 and the washer may not respond to buttons. Many homes in Houston still run one of these older washers, and we repair it or advise you if replacing it would be wiser.
Common causes of E91 / E92
- The wiring between the user interface board and the main board
- A loose connector at either end
- The user interface board
- The main control board
1. Turn the washer off and leave it for a minute. 2. Turn it back on and see whether the buttons respond. 3. Start a short cycle once. 4. If E91 or E92 returns, stop using the washer and call us.
- The codes say the two boards cannot communicate, so we test the wiring before we point at either board.
- If the wiring is sound we check the panel board first and then the main board.
- We give you a written price first, and the repair comes with a 30-day guarantee on our workmanship.
Other Washer codes
Is E91 different from E92?
The manufacturer words them slightly differently, but both describe the control panel and the main board failing to communicate. We approach them the same way: wiring and connectors first, then each board.
Why are the buttons not working?
The panel may be unable to send your commands to the main board, or the main board may not be answering. That fits these codes, and it is why the washer can seem dead even when it has power.
Will a power-off fix it?
Occasionally a brief power-off lets the two boards link up again. If the code comes back, the wiring or one of the boards needs testing, and we can tell you which one.
