The ELVE7400A is a 400 Series electric dryer from Electrolux with an extra-large 7.4 cu. ft. drum, ten dry cycles, an 18-minute fast dry and a Wrinkle Care option. The number is also sold as the ELVE7400AW. It is the electric partner of the ELVG7400A gas dryer.
An electric dryer like this one runs on a 240-volt outlet, so when it spins but does not heat we test the heating element, the thermal fuse and the thermostat. Is the ELVE7400A the same as the ELVG7400A?
They are the same 400 Series line, but the ELVE is electric and the ELVG is gas. Heating parts differ completely, so we check the label before ordering.
My dryer runs but the drum stays cold. What do you do?
We test the heating element, the thermal fuse and the thermostat with the power disconnected. We also clear the vent, because a blocked duct can cause the thermal fuse to open.
What does the Wrinkle Care option need to work?
It uses the same drum motor and heat as other cycles, so it needs the dryer to run normally. If it does not start, we test the control and the door switch.
